On August 17, 2017, IBEA was notified that we were randomly selected to be audited for our professional development activities during the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

Part of the audit process requires that we submit not only a list of the names of those who received PDs, but we must also include your Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN) as part of the documentation we maintain.

Members of the Board of Directors are now busy compiling the required data that ISBE requires as part of this audit.  During the next few weeks, you will receive an email requesting your IEIN so we can successfully complete this audit.

IBEA is aware that some members and attendees of IBEA conferences and other professional development opportunities may not need PDs or have IEIN numbers. IEIN numbers are provided to those certified to teach in grades Pre-K through 12 in the State of Illinois. However, anyone awarded or granted PDs from IBEA and planning to report them to ISBE to claim professional development credit for the renewal of their Professional Educator License must provide IBEA with their IEIN number.

Measures are now being developed to collect all necessary information for future professional development activities that IBEA and its affiliates sponsor.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as we gather this data to be in compliance with the established rules from the Illinois State Board of Education.

The requirements that IBEA must adhere to according to Illinois School Code are as follows:

Providers must “maintain original documentation for completion of professional development activities” (105 ILCS 21B-45(i)(4)), “verify attendance at its professional development activities” (23 IAC §25.855(e)(1)), and “maintain attendance records for each event or activity it conducts for a period of not less than six years.” (23 IAC §25.855(e)(3)

Daily attendance is required. Daily attendance must include the following data in a format of the provider’s choosing, i.e. paper or electronic:

  1. The name, date, and time of the activity, event, workshop, conference, etc.
  2. Educator names and IEINs (Illinois Educator Identification Numbers)
  3. Educator arrival and departure times (in order to determine how many PD hours to grant the educator)
