Dora J. Beattie Scholarship Winners

L to R: Amanda German and Jean Cornell

Jean Cornell is in her senior year at Eastern Illinois University. She recently started her practicum at Newton High School working with Gail Turner, an EIBEA member. In the Spring, she will be student teaching. As a non-traditional student, this journey has been quite interesting for her. Her husband and children have been proud supporters of their wife and mom reaching her goal of a bachelor’s degree.

Amanda German is currently student teaching at Hoopeston Area High School in Hoopeston, IL. She will obtain her professional teaching license in December from Eastern Illinois University and is eager to begin her career. The motto for the district she teaches at is “Always Learning, Always Growing,” which she enjoys staying true to each day both professionally and personally. Amanda obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2009. Prior to her teaching career, she worked as Community Manager for the American Cancer Society, where she has volunteered for 19 years.

Congratulations to our 2018 Dora J. Beattie Scholarship Winners!
