I nominate Kathleen Daugherty from Lake Land College for the 2014 EIBEA Teacher of the Year Award.

Kathleen’s office is across the hallway from mine and I see her going out of her way to help her students on a daily basis. Often times the students are not even in her class, but she helps them anyway. She truly exhibits what it means to be an “outstanding educator”! Kathleen cares about students and wants them to learn and be successful. She seems to have unlimited patience with her students and spends a great deal of time working with them individually. In the classroom she is always positive and enthusiastic and relates well to her students. Outside of the classroom she volunteers for many departmental duties when volunteers are needed and she is always positive and friendly with fellow division members.

Kathleen has also served as the EIBEA Vice President for the past two years and has stepped up every time to make arrangements for the menu with the various locations we have had out meetings at and consults on all of the other items involved in planning the meetings. She is definitely a team player and makes being an officer in EIBEA easier because of her willingness to step up and volunteer for tasks that need to be done to have a successful meeting. In her role as EIBEA representative to the IBEA board she attends the IBEA board meetings and represents EIBEA well. She has also taken charge of every duty she has been assigned with IBEA and is very conscientious about getting things done.

I feel Kathleen is very deserving of the EIBEA Teacher of the Year Award!
