At the IBEA business meeting held at the IACTE Summer Conference on July 17, 2009, the members approved the proposal to use online voting for officer and board member elections rather than paper ballots.

Article VIII, Elections, Section 6 of the IBEA Constitution now reads:

"Voting in the annual IBEA election will be done online on the IBEA Web site. Voting instructions and a sample ballot will be placed in the winter issue of the Association's newsletter. Members may request a paper ballot from the executive director. The IBEA webmaster will notify the executive director of the results after the close of voting; the election process shall be completed by April 1. The person having a plurality of votes cast for each office shall be elected. The board of directors shall resolve any ties."
