The IBEA officers want you to be aware of the rules for receiving Professional Development (PD) hours, formerly known as CPDUs, at the IBEA Fall Conferences beginning with the 2015 IBEA Fall Conference.

IBEA followed the rigorous process to gain approval as a professional development provider through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). In order for you to receive professional development hours during the conference, there are specific conditions that must be followed to maintain our approved-provider status for PD hours.
Because we want you to receive credit for each and every hour available at the conference, we are sending this “heads up” notice in advance. Please review it carefully.

You must follow these guidelines to receive a PD sticker at the end of a session:

  1. Arrive within three (3) minutes of the session start time. (Arrive early or at least on time.)
  2. Fill out a session evaluation.
  3. Stay until the session ends…to the end of the session time frame.

The Session Chairs have been instructed to follow these guidelines:

  1. Participants who arrive later than three (3) minutes after the beginning of the session will not receive a PD sticker for that session.
  2. Participants who leave a session before the session has ended will not receive a PD sticker for that session.

We are confident you will want to hear the entire session to earn your PD hour. Please make sure to follow these guidelines in order to get the maximum amount of PD credit.

The 2016 Conference Host and Hostess are Linda and Kenny Walker.

Linda Walker worked with the IL Curriculum Revitalization (CR) Project for nearly 10 years and has joined IBEA, has presented, and has been an exhibitor for several IBEA Conferences.

Prior to joining the Curriculum Revitalization Project, Linda taught and retired from teaching Family and Consumer Sciences for more than 30 years at Midwest Central High School in Manito and Bergan High School in Peoria. Since then, Linda has been a member of IBEA for several years and finds the IBEA Conferences some of the best. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration and currently trains groups as an Etiquette Consultant.

Kenny Walker taught Business, Marketing, and Computer Education at Astoria High School before retiring in 2003.  He is currently serving as the chairman of the Mason County Board.

After retiring from Astoria High School, Kenny enjoys golfing, fishing trips, and substitute teaching, which he regularly does throughout the academic school year.

IBEA CPDU Procedures for Affiliate Events


  1. Complete the Affiliate Call for Presenters form in this packet attached below (pages 1 and 2) and send to IBEA at least four weeks prior to your affiliate event for pre-approval to receive CPDU credits from IBEA. After approval, you will be given the IBEA approval number to use on your ISBE forms.

  2. The length of the presentation must be a minimum of one hour. This only includes the presentation and/or tour. It does not include other parts of your program and/or travel time to a tour. 

  3. Keep a list of all persons that received professional development credits for your event and a copy of your program. Send a copy of the list of attendees and your program information to IBEA no later than one week following the meeting.

  4. Use the IBEA affiliate event evaluation form in this packet and have all participants complete this form immediately following the program. Those will need to be collected and turned in to IBEA no later than one week following the meeting.

  5. Give attendees the two official ISBE forms at your event. (Fillable .pdf forms can be downloaded from: Forms in this packet below are samples. The downloads below are the fillable forms from the ISBE site. Attendees keep the one with the approval number and must fill out and return the ISBE evaluation form to your affiliate. Send a copy of the completed ISBE evaluation forms to IBEA no later than one week following the meeting.

All post event materials should be submitted to IBEA within one week of your affiliate event. IBEA has to submit a summary of all of this on a special form to the state and then keep your material on file for seven years in order for your CPDU credits to count.
