The 2014 IBEA Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year is Ms. Phyllis Sander. Phyllis is an Instructor at Shawnee Community College in Ullin where she teaches Current Technologies, Computer Programming, Computer Systems, Information Processing, and Management classes. Phyllis has also served as the Chair of the Business, Occupational, and Technical Instructional Division.
Ms. Sander is the current SIBEA treasurer and has served as its affiliate president and vice president. She is a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, the Beta Omicron Chapter, where she has served as the president and vice president. Additionally, she is a member of ACTE, IACTE, NBEA, and NCBEA. Phyllis is a Phi Beta Lambda professional member; has served as an FBLA advisor and is a current PBL advisor. She was a Faculty Advisory Council Member-at-Large for the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
Phyllis is the recipient of the Illinois Community College Teacher Association, ICCTA, Outstanding Instructor (1999), SIBEA Outstanding Instructor (1998), and Phi Beta Lambda Distinguished Advisor (1999) awards.
Ms. Sander has presented several technology-related topics in Illinois and led round-table discussions for the Professional Business Women of Southeast Missouri.
Her dean indicates that she organizes and leads the Shawnee Community College Business Skills Competition between local high schools.
