2026 IBEA Fall Conference Featured Breakout Session Presenter
Tonya Skinner
Tonya Skinner graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1997 and has since taught in Dekalb High School, Oran R-3 Schools, and Jackson Senior High School in Missouri. She has also served as an adult education teacher at the Cape Career and Technology Center and an adjunct faculty member for Southeast Missouri State University.
During her teaching career, she has served on the board for both the North Central Business Education and Missouri Business Education Association both as a teacher and as a student. She received the NCBEA Emerging Professional Award in 2001, was inducted into Who's Who in Missouri Business education in 2004, and her business program received the Program of Excellence Award in 2006. Since then, she has continued making presentations, providing computer training, and developing state-wide curriculum. She also serves as a National FBLA test writer and textbook reviewer for Cengage.
Teaching technology is her passion. She is certified in many areas, including Microsoft Office 2016 and Adobe Certified Associate certifications in Web Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere and Flash. Though business and finance education are interesting and fun to teach as well, she spends the majority of her workload in technology instruction, namely Web Design, Graphic Design, and Multimedia courses. She was also involved in creating Missouri's first embedded Language Arts credit Business Communications course.
On a personal note, Tonya has been married for over 20 years to Batman (Bruce Wayne Skinner) and is the mother of two girls. She enjoys running and exercise and is committed to a healthy lifestyle. After losing 100 pounds in 2010, she has managed to keep the weight off and keep the attitude positive.
